0.A.D. now available on Frugalware
0.A.D is a real strategy game like Ages of Empire but opensource. This game is still in development but usable. I’ve tested it and I’ve found it very impressive. It’s so rare to see an opensource game with this quality.
I am pleased to announce that 0.A.D is now available on Frugalware current as nobuild package. To install it:
# repoman upd && repoman merge 0ad

Dust GTK+2 theme now available on Frugalware
I recently packaged the Dust GTK+2 theme originally made for Ubuntu.
This theme is now available on current repo of Frugalware Linux, to install it just do:
# pacman-g2 -S gtk+2-theme-dust
Then the theme will be available on Gnome Appearance Properties window.
There is also a package for dust extra themes including:
- Dust Sand – Lighter, Slightly-metallic version
- Dust Burnt – A version of Dust where all apps use dark toolbars
- Dust Borderless – A version of the Dust window borders theme with a thin frame
To install them:
# pacman-g2 -S gtk+2-theme-dust-extras
New Frugalware package of Nautilus-Elementary
Remember, few weeks ago I wrote an entry on my blog about Nautilus-Elementary, a rework of Nautilus. I’ve made a new Frugalware package from a more recent snapshot of Nautilus-elementary bazaar repo. As I said, on a previous entry, now on Frugalware, the default GTK theme of GNOME is clearlooks-revamp. This theme was developed with the classic nautilus but also nautilus-elementary:
Yeah, as you can see, with nautilus-elementary, it’s even more beautiful !
To install nautilus-elementary, first remove nautilus:
# pacman -Rd nautilus
with that, your nautilus extensions packages will not be removed, then install my nautilus-elementary package with:
# pacman -U http://frugalware.org/~devil505/nautilus-elementary-2.30.1-1-i686.fpm
By the way, I recently bumped cover-thumbnailer (0.8.1) on current, If you have a big music folder, I suggest you to use it with nautilus-elementary to get something like this:
Warzone2100 2.3.2 is out
Version 2.3.2 of the famous strategy game Warzone2100 has been released.
This version brings new features including:
- A new map, 4c-Pyramidal.
- People with with no middle mouse button will be able to rotate the screen by holding down the left and right mouse buttons at the same time.
- Many fixes (see changelog)
This morning, I bumped Warzone2100 package in frugalware current repo to 2.3.2 .
Enjoy !
Artwork updates for Frugalware 1.3 Haven
If you use Frugalware current, you must have seen that the artwork has changed. The new default wallpaper has been added for GNOME, KDE, LXDE, XFCE and for login managers (GDM, KDM and Slim).
For XFCE users I chose axiom as xfwm4 theme. With a clearlooks GTK theme, it looks beautiful. About Gnome theme, many things have changed, first of all, the icon theme, it is now MeliaeSVG for light panel with the Frugalware logo as start-here image (thanks to Link Mauve to have make a good SVG file of the logo). Finally, I chose Clearlooks-Revamp as default GTK and Metacity themes. Clearlooks-revamp use the Murrine GTK engine and brings a new decoration to Nautilus, see the screenshots:
Some stuff is still missing but all will be ready for the final release of Frugalware 1.3 Haven.
I feel the need … The need for speed
Just before the freeze of Frugalware current (to prepare the the release of the first release candidate of 1.3 Haven), I pushed a new package into the repository, Speed-dreams, a racing game.
Speed-dreams is an opensource sport car simulator, actually a fork of TORCS (also available on Frugalware) with new features like new cars, new races and an improved opponent AI.
I packaged the version 1.4 (as a nobuild package) and to install it on Frugalware just do:
# repoman upd && repoman merge speed-dreams
The version 1.5 is supposed to be released next year and will bring new features like playing on internet, feeling force sensations with the car, racing by day or night, having different weather conditions and more stuff.
